NEW! Purchase Harmonica Instruction Books by Steve from Hal Leonard:
Steve Cohen plays and teaches harmonica & guitar, and sings the blues in his own unmistakable style. He’s been performing and recording in the Milwaukee area since 1970 and is also a vinyl record dealer and booking agent . Steve is sponsored by Hohner Harmonica Inc. His work is featured on many Hal Leonard harmonica play along books.
This Week's Notes:
I've started teaching a new beginner harmonica class at the conservatory on Saturdays. Though it's a small class, it's always inspiring for me to show people how to enjoy making music on the harmonica...
March has Leroy Airmaster at the St. Frances Brewery on the 14th, and Morton's on the 25th. Both of these dates have Dave Braun playing the drums with us.
I'm with Mike Judy at the Art Bar on the 20th. Mike is having an opening there. The event starts early, but we start playing at 10:30, which is shortly after Phil Woods performs at the PAC. My wife and I have tickets, looking forward to hearing some great jazz as inspiration for a performance later in the evening.
Leroy Airmaster continues to write and record music once a month at Analog Champion studios in Wauwatosa. High hopes that some of this will eventually find it's way onto television or movies, and there may also be an album of original material down the road. That hasn't happened since Leroy released Feedbag in the mid 1980's.
Now that I have hit the age of 60, I look back at my life with a sense of satisfaction. I've been able to do exactly what I wanted to do (for the most part), which is make a living as a musician, and be around to watch my children grow up and become fantastic adults, all the while maintaining a wonderful marriage to an incredible woman. I have a lot of great friends, and a home that I love. Thank you, universe.
